B-58 Hustler on display at the mighty 8th Airforce Museum in Shreveport, Louisiana. This B-58 was rebuilt as a rocket sled. The rocket sled was required to test the ejection capsule system at supersonic speeds. The serial number of 44-83884 does not make sense given that the Hustler was a 1950’s era project, and 44- indicates a 1944 contract date. The museum director has since explained that this is a misprint, and that they are in the process of updating the signage.
