Mississippi River Highway Crossing Near Cass Lake, MN
The CSAH-39 bridge is located just east of where the Mississippi River
exits Cass Lake and falls over the Knutson Dam. This is an early
prestressed precast concrete girder bridge. Like many bridges from
that area, the railings are substandard. They would likely not stand
up to an automobile impact, they are not angled so they would not
deflect an impact, and the curb is not high enough to stop a car.
Otherwise, this 48 year old bridge appears like it will stand for many
years in the future.
