Interstate Highways Traveled

Interstate Highways Traveled By John Weeks

I have traveled 28,475 miles of Interstate highway as of December, 2017. That is 58% of the 48,826 miles of the US Interstate Highway system. I have traveled every mile of Interstate highway in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, and the District of Columbia. In addition, I have traveled the vast majority of Interstate highway miles in Florida, Utah, and Wisconsin, and at least one mile of Interstate highway in every state expect Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico (the latter of which is not a state but does have Interstate highways).

This goal is a bit of a moving target because Interstate highways are still being added to the system, and improvements are made that change and reroute existing Interstate highways. For example, I had clinched 100% of Wisconsin, but they added I-41. I have traveled the entire length of that highway, but not since it was designated I-41. I also traveled the remaining section of I-99 that I am missing, but that section was not fully completed at that time. I-69 is slowly being completed and I-95 is being rerouted around Philadelphia to fill in the gap that has been missing for decades.

Note—clinched highways are blue, highways that I have not yet traveled are red.
